Tab Commands Feature Rolls Out On Opera

Opera is rolling out a new Tab Commands feature that lets users manage their tabs by simply talking with Opera’s browser AI, Aria. This AI-powered feature enables users to pin, group, close, and bookmark tabs.

The users can enable Aria by pressing the Ctrl+/ or Cmd+/ and then write in their requests for Aria to act on. For instance, if a user wants Aria to close their YouTube tabs, then the users can type “Close YouTube tabs”, which Aria effectively closes their tabs. Aria can also help users organize their tabs as well. Opera’s AI can pin, close, and group tabs. This AI can even make bookmarks for the users. This makes organizing tabs less of a hassle and more convenient for the users.

Tab Commands are available for use in the Developer version of the Opera Browser. The AI behind this feature uses only the prompts provided and no other data is processed. This ensures both the security and the privacy of the users. The browser AI does not receive any information about the tabs except for the action they are meant to perform.

Tab Commands: How to use this feature

Opera states that there are two methods of accessing the Tabs Commands feature. Users can access this feature by enabling the Command Line which lets the users type in their Prompts. The users will simply have to let Aria know what it has to do and Aria follows through. When a user right-clicks a tab and then chooses the AI Tab Management option, they are presented with three choices such as “Close old tabs”, “Gourp my tabs”, and “Save my session”.

Aria also gives the users a recap of the action that was performed. It also gives users the choice of whether or not to undo the action or keep them. This is particularly useful when a user accidentally prompts Aria to close a tab that was not supposed to be closed.
