Sponsored Snaps: Snapchat's New Advertising Features

Snapchat has announced Sponsored Snaps, which brings ads over onto the Chat tab for the first time. Users will begin to see these ads along with their friend’s messages.

Although users will not be notified about the new addition of ads, they will notice an obvious difference in the Chat tab due to the presence of the new ads. When users open Sponsored Snaps, they can either choose to tap on the ad’s link to learn more about the ad or they can even reply to it. Furthermore, if a user does not open the Snap for a while, the Snap automatically gets removed from the user’s inbox.

Snapchat has partnered up with Disney for this new venture. Sponsored Snaps will also allow businesses to interact with their customer base by messaging them with visuals in a video Snap. The businesses send their snaps directly to the user’s inbox. It changes the way businesses engage with their customers.

Sponsored Snaps: More features introduced by Snapchat

Besides Sponsored Snaps, Snapchat has also introduced a new feature called Promoted Places, in partnership with Taco Bell and McDonalds. Through Promoted Places, businesses can showcase as well as advertise their business locations all over the Snap Map. It highlights places that have been sponsored on the Snap Map. It helps people in the community discover new places to visit.

The Snap Map is a helpful tool for exploring new places to visit and it also lets users know what their friends are doing. Users also learn where the ‘Top Picks’ places are. This is based on the trends of the community visits. When places are marked as ‘Top Picks’, Snapchat has claimed that there is a 17.6% increase in visits. This helps promote and uplift local businesses in the community.
