Snapdragon Elite 8 Officially Announced by Qualcomm

Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon Elite 8 for Snapdragon Cockpit, Android smartphones, and Snapdragon Ride for cars at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 event that took place in Hawaii. 

The company has claimed that the new release is the fastest-ever mobile processor with the Oryon CPU. This new chipset also comes with the Adreno GPU and this ensures enhancements in graphics rendering, improved performance and efficient power in gaming. Additionally, this chip is built for AI with its multi-modal AI. Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU also enables faster speeds and efficiency for processing AI. The tech company has also stated that the Elite 8 will also have support for much larger multi-modal models. 

When it comes to cameras, the Elite 8 enhances and improves photography with the use of its AI image signal processor. Furthermore, the Snapdragon X80 5G can support Wi-Fi 7. It has also been combined with the Ultra Wideband for improvements in proximity. Furthermore, the chip comes with aptX Lossless audio as well as spatial audio. Security and head tracking were improved with the help of Truepic’s technology. This technology utilises cryptography for authenticating videos, photos, audio, etc to safeguard it from AI.

Snapdragon Elite 8: More on the new Snapdragon release

The new Snapdragon uses the TMSC's 3nm ‘N3E’ which aids in efficiency. The Adreno 830 makes it 40% faster than its predecessor. Going back to AI, the Elite 8 is equipped with 70 tokens per second for specific models. Video recording has been limited to 4K 60FPS while the multi-sensor supports 48MP + 48MP + 40 MP. The camera has also upgraded to 320 MP still imaging with 108 MP singular camera support at 30 FPS.
