Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition: Kindle's Colour Debut

Amazon has just announced the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, a new kind of Kindle with vibrant colours that are easy on the reader’s eyes. Priced at $279.99, the Colorsoft will be officially launched later on October 30.

Those interested can preorder the Colorsoft on Amazon. The Colorsoft is said to be based on Kaleido’s E Ink technology. However, it utilises a completely different display stack for the Kindle. Amazon states that the new Kindle uses an oxide Backplane along with customer waveforms. This ensures a speedy performance with high colour and black-and-white contrast. The new Kindle also features nitride LEDs, which result in enhanced colour and increased brightness when combined with Amazon’s custom algorithms.

The new Kindle Colorsoft also comes with wireless charging. It offers up to an impressive battery life totalling up to eight weeks of battery. It is also waterproof so readers can take the Kindle with them in the bath to at the beach.

Besides the Kindle Colorsoft, Amazon has announced the Kindle Scribe. This new launch blends the goodness of a Kindle with that of a notetaking device. Kindle Scribe’s display has new white borders and the screen is smooth with a paper-like texture. With 300 PPI, the text on the Scribe looks clear and crisp. Users can even put their thoughts directly on the canvas with the Active Canvas feature.

The tech company has also announced the Kindle Paperwhite. Amazon states that the new Paperwhite is the fastest Kindle yet. Users can scroll through their Kindle Library or turn pages 25% faster. The display on the Paperwhite features an oxide thin-film transistor and is also the thinnest Kindle ever. Measuring at 7 inches. this super-fast Kindle also comes with up to three months of battery life.
