iOS 17.6: Apple Urges Users To Update Their Devices

iOS 17.6 has been released and Apple has urged its users to download the new software update regarding users’ security. Software updates for iPad 17.6 are also available for download.

This new iOS 17.6 and iPadOS 17.6 software update corrects certain issues that compromise and affect users’ security. The tech company fixed a whopping 35 security issues in the new update.

Apple has fixed several issues regarding the devices’ security such as the ImageIO, WebKit, Kernal, Keychain and more. One of the more notable fixes is the two issues in the Kernal. Both of these Kernal issues puts users’ devices at risk of hacking. However, hackers would need in-person access to the users’ devices. Furthermore, eight issues in WebKit have also been resolved.

Besides Apple, CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) has also issued a warning to US citizens to update their devices. CISA alerts that the issues with the Kernal leave users’ devices vulnerable to hackers and other adversaries.

iOS 17.6 and iPad OS 17.6 Device Eligibility

The iOS 17.6 software update is available for Apple devices including the iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series and the iPhone 15 series. Other models include the iPhone XS, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR and the 2nd and 3rd generation of the iPhone SE.

Besides the iPhones, the new update also applies to some iPad models such as the iPad 3rd Gen, iPad mini 5th Gen, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st Gen and so on. Users can check for their iPhone or iPad update eligibility on Apple’s official page.
