India's first AI chip by Ola may be released in two years as said by the company's CEO Bhavish Aggarwal. The AI chip named Bodhi 1 will be Ola's first venture into the AI chip market as well as India's first entry into the sector.
The announcement was made at Ola's annual Sankalp event where Aggarwal opined that AI sovereignty was mandatory for the country. He also made several other announcements such as their AI assistant, Krutim's integration into its electric scooters.
Other announcements include Ola Consumer which encompasses features such as Ola Credit, Ola Pay, Ola Coin and an AI Co-pilot for personal shopping.
India's first AI chip may be credited to Ola, granted that the company comes through with its 2026 release. The company is developing Bodi 1, an AI silicon chop for vision models and LLM (Large Language Models). Furthermore, the company is seeking to design Bodhi 2, which will be the second version of the AI chip. The Bodhi 2 has been promised to deliver support for the 10T+ parameter model and it is expected to be released in 2028.
Ola has also partnered up with ARM and Untheher AI, chip-developing companies, for the development of the AI chip. If the launch of the AI chip is successful, then Ola will be among giants such as AMD, Nvidia and Intel. Other lead tech companies such as Apple, Meta, Google and Amazon are as=lsodelveoing their own AI chips.
