Google announced Gemini 2.5, a new family of AI reasoning models, on Tuesday. This next-generation technology is intended to “think” before answering queries, providing a new level of sophistication to AI responses.
Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental is Google’s most advanced AI model, with a multimodal, reasoning-focused approach. This model, available through Google AI Studio and the Gemini app for $20 per month, is best suited for tasks such as web app development and agentic coding. It also claims to surpass previous AI models on key metrics.
Gemini 2.5 Pro has additional computational capacity to process complicated queries and fact-check responses, making it more dependable than previous models. This reasoning style is quickly becoming an essential component of AI systems meant to handle tasks autonomously. However, the additional processing resources required result in a greater price tag.
On the Aider Polyglot test, Gemini 2.5 Pro outperformed OpenAI and other rivals with a code-editing task score of 68.6%. It also outperformed the DeepSeek and OpenAI models in various benchmarks, such as SWE-bench Verified. Nonetheless, it achieved 18.8% on the Humanity’s Last Exam, an arithmetic, humanities, and natural sciences exam, outperforming most competitors.
One of the most notable aspects of Gemini 2.5 Pro is its 1 million token context window. Which can parse around 750,000 words in a single transaction. This will soon be increased to 2 million tokens, allowing it to understand and respond to more complicated inputs.
While the price for API access has not yet been published, the firm pledges to provide more information soon. Gemini 2.5 is part of Google’s ongoing effort to develop in AI, with an emphasis on models with built-in reasoning capabilities.
