Gemini Live has recently been announced at the annual Made by Google 2024 and this upcoming feature aims to rival ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode. This feature was first announced at the I/O Developer Conference in early 2024.
Gemini Live is a voice chat mode available only for users subscribed to Gemini Advanced. It has been noticed that this feature works a lot like ChatGPT’s recently released Advanced Voice Mode. The ChatGPT voice feature enabled users to pick from various voice options. Users could engage in smooth and natural flowing conversations and the bot could even be interrupted by the user’s voice.
Similarly, Google has stated that the new voice mode lets users engage in free and naturally flowing conversations. Users can interrupt the AI bot with their voice without pressing any buttons manually to ask the AI bot questions. Additionally, users can even speak at their own pace and continue their conversations after they close the application.
Gemini Live – More on this feature
Users are given ten natural voices to choose from. Gemini Live is based on Gemini Advanced models such as Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash which allows it to retain more data. This allows the bot to recall past conversations with the user, making it more realistic.
Despite announcing a multimodal input integration into Gemini Live back at the I/O developer conference, Google has not integrated it into Live. However, during the Made by Google event, the company stated its plans to bring multinodal input into Gemini Live.
Google is also looking into expanding language support as it is only limited to English as of now. Since it is currently only available in Android, Google also plans to toll our support for iOS soon.
