Brave Search has introduced a new feature called CodeLLM, which aims to improve search results for programming-related queries.

CodeLLM merges Brave’s search capabilities with large language models (LLMs) to deliver pertinent code snippets, comprehensive explanations, and citations in response to programmers’ search queries.

All about CodeLLM

CodeLLM is designed to help programmers by offering AI-generated code snippets based on search results, step-by-step explanations, and source citations for reference and validation.

Utilizing Mistral, an advanced language model capable of generating code from text prompts. Brave automatically integrates CodeLLM into programming queries, generating a widget above regular web search results.

This widget prompts CodeLLM to provide an AI-generated response summarizing crucial information and offering sample code aligned with the search results.

Brave emphasizes CodeLLM’s ability to harness the real-time contextual power of a specialized search engine. This distinguishes it from generalized language models. The company highlights the value of contextual information provided as these models become more accessible and affordable.

When will CodeLLM be available?

CodeLLM is now accessible to all Brave Search users on desktop and mobile, requiring no setting adjustments or additional downloads.

Brave aims to enhance CodeLLM’s capabilities further and intends to make its results available through the Brave Search API for integration into third-party applications shortly.

CodeLLM was introduced two years after launching Brave Search as an independent alternative to significant search engines like Google.

Brave asserts that its search engine doesn’t track users or gather personal data.

Brave Search relies on the Web Discovery Project (WDP) for its index, encompassing over 20 billion high-quality pages and indexes 700 million pages daily.

According to the company’s data, Brave Search handles over 25 million daily queries.
