Byway is a travel company using AI to offer travellers flight-free travel and accommodation packages. The travel startup also plans the trip for customers by considering the traveller's interests and the company’s ‘expert local knowledge’.
They create custom travel and accommodation packages that do not follow the usual tourist tracks. Instead, the travel company opts for trains, buses and ferries, allowing the traveller to admire the natural sights and views as they go. Travellers are also provided with customer support throughout the journey on WhatsApp.
Byway aims to promote local businesses, lesser-known sights and sustainable transport. They prioritise a flightless way of travel as it is more environmentally friendly. Going flightless reduces the amount of carbon emissions already being produced on a wide scale across the globe. Therefore, sustainability is the motto of this travel-tech startup.
JourneyAI is the company’s artificial intelligence technology which creates elaborate and curated travel, route and accommodation plans to suit the travellers’ interests.
The startup is based in London, England, United Kingdom and was co-founded by Cat Jones and Richard Levy in 2020.
The travel company has recently raised € 5.9 million in a Series A funding round with investors such as Heartcore Capital, Eka Ventures, Hermes and Founders Factory.
The funds raised from the Series A round will be utilised for the growth and expansion of Byway’s JourneyAI. The company, consisting of 40 employees, also intends to increase team members. In addition, it also plans to introduce other positions for sectors such as finance, technology, and business and product development.
