Are you searching for the ways to improve bounce rate of your website?

Does your blog or website doesn’t have a good bounce rate?

But first, let me tell you what bounce rate is? For those who are new to this term.

Well, Bounce rate is a measurement of people who leave your site after viewing only one page. In the Google analytics, we can get the bounce rate for our website. The bounce rate of a website is another factor which is responsible for better ranking on Google and also helps in increasing the domain authority of your site. The bounce rate in simple words is the time spent by a visitor on pages or the posts of the website and total for the all the visitors is shown to us as bounce rate by Google.

Why You must Improve Bounce rate of your website:

There are many factors which Google uses to rank websites in its SERPs and Bounce rate is one of the important factors. Google ranks those sites up which have less bounce rate. The only reason for better ranking is because Google’s algorithm thinks that the website to be more interesting and have better content than other sites. Here are some points which can help you improve bounce rate of your website.

  • Write More and interesting content:

More content means, more time on the website. So write as much as long you can write. Most of the marketers say to write from 300 to 1500 words. But you can write as many words you want to write. When you find on SERPs results, you will find that websites which have long written articles are at the top of the ranking. The Marketers like Neil Patel and Brian Dean writes up to 4000 to 10000 words per article, and you can see their sites are amazingly good and have good page rank as well better domain authority than others. It doesn’t matter how long a post should be unless it provides the information needed by the reader.

And also, write interesting content, see what your readers want. Write about their interest. People may also like the boring content depending on the topic, but it must be correct and accurate in all ways.

  • Add More Pages to the website:

Adding more pages to your Website means that the visitors can spend more time on your Website. Make a menu of the categories and pages so that visitors can easily use your site.  Moreover, it ‘s nice to have a big website even according to the SEO Experts.

  • Add links to your sidebar:

Give some extra options to your visitors, add some exciting and best links to the sidebar of your website. No one wants to search from the website; they only search from Google (even I do the same). So, instead of searching their site, they look for content which is featured on the website.

  • Question/ Answers

Write a post or build pages where you can arrange a questionnaire. I think it is the best way to improve bounce rate of your website.  If you are using WordPress then it will become easier for you, there are free plugins available which can help you to make Question/answer pages.

Here are the plugins which can help you:

  1. WordPress Simple Survey
  2. Questionnaire
  3. HD Quiz
  • Use Subheading

While writing content, use subheading. The use of the subheadings will interest your readers more. It is also good to use according to the SEO experts. Also, the use of the subheading with the keyword will help to do better on-page optimization. You can also see that the post you are reading also contains the subheading which can help you to read only that portion of the content which interest’s you the most or haven’t read before.

  • Internal Linking

Internal linking will allow the readers to remain on your website for a longer time. Mainly visitors follow those links which they interest while reading a post or a page.  So, while writing a new post, keep in mind to link those posts which are related to the post you are writing. Even linking the new post from the old posts is good and considered as the first thing to be done after publishing a new blog post.

  • Use Videos

Use videos in your posts, mainly about which you are writing. When you post long and interesting videos, the visitors to your website will surely spend more time. Another thing, the video must be related to the topic you are writing.

  • Provide a list of blogs

Moreover, writing a post about the list of sites will also help you to improve bounce rate. People on the internet search for the list of websites to seek information and also for the link building purpose. Like I have prepared some posts which provide the list of sites like Commentluv blogs, list of social networking sites, Profile creation sites and some more posts like this. These list of sites forces the visitors to stay on my website for a longer time and helps me to improve my bounce rate.

And if you have a question or any of the query, then please leave a comment, and we will help you for sure.

  4. Hi Robin,
I’m here again today so what’s up?
One thing I encourage while doing internal linking is not just to link. Do some description and add hot call to actions. That will remarkably bring down bounce rate.

Thanks for yet another awesome post I’m reading on your blog

  5. Hello Robin! I think we should use interesting content on the site to lower down the bounce rate. Also it is true that we can add more number of pages to our site so that people can stay for long on the site. I loved the blog. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Bounce rate is indication of visitors behavior and content quality. things we can focused to improve bounce rate are following.
    1. Use Video in your post.
    2. do interlinking with useful and related posts of your blog / websites. life if you have post about list of do follow bookmarking websites. give link of your another post of do follow blog commenting.
    3. ask question to users in post.
    4. there must be interaction between your post and reader.
    5. use images etc.

  7. You should try to reduce the bounce rate of your website. Bounce rate is the percentage of people actually leaving away your site after viewing only a single page. The lesser the bounce rate the more time visitors are spending on you site. You might want to edit your article.

    1. I am sorry nitin but I think you are considering improve as an increase. I mean to say that “improve the bounce” not increase. My post is about making your bounce rate lesser.

      1. Yes, but that’s not clear. I think you could make it clearer. Just as you could make your definition of bounce rate clearer. Here’s the problem, specifically – you wrote:

“Bounce rate is the percentage of the page sessions.” Percentage of what?? Percentage of PEOPLE who leave after viewing just ONE page during a session. (You might have to define “session.” You could just say it’s “a measurement of people who leave your site after viewing only one page.” That would be clear. Like a rubber ball – they landed on your site, and then BOUNCED. Gone.)

Then you talk about improving your bounce rate and you write: “Google ranks those sites up which have more bounce rate.” The word “more” usually implies…more. A higher number. Here you want a LOW number, so you want a “lower bounce rate.” Google likes sites that offer the kind of quality that makes readers stick around and explore the site during each visit.

That’s where some of Nitin’s and my confusion lies, Robin.

        1. Thanks for pointing out the issues Holly. I have made those changes which you suggested me. If you feel that there should be more changes or corrections, feel free to tell me.
Apologies for the same and Also thanks.

  8. Noooooooo!!! You want a LOW bounce rate, Robin. Bounce rate is “the percentage of visitors to a particular website who navigate away from the site after viewing only one page.” The way to improve bounce rate is to LOWER it by getting people to view more pages during each visit – to give them fresh content that interests them, more content related to the things that interest them (lead them to it through the internal linking), etc. Your tips are good ones that should REDUCE the bounce rate – just remember, lower is better. The goal is not to get a lot of one time visitors who click off after a quick view of the page they landed on from a search, but to pique visitors’ interest enough that they want to explore the site more deeply. (This is how low quality can ruin your great SEO efforts – if people are disappointed in the quality and leave, the bounce rate is high regardless of how many unique visits/visitors you have.)
